The Disappearing Drumlin
The Disappearing Drumlin was in the show 34 at Boston Sculptors Gallery curated by Liz Devlin. 34 was a part of the Isles Art Initiative in Boston, MA. The show about the 34 Harbor Islands, included 34 artists each making work about an island. Mags Harries was given Sheep Island. Sheep Island was once 25 acres in size, large enough to be used for grazing sheep and was a significant resource for the adjacent communities. Waves and wind lapping its shores have reduced it to just a few acres. Harries’ piece incorporates drone video of the island today, projected onto a black sheepskin. The video depicts the waves and wind which was part of the erosion of Sheep Island. Aerial drone video of Sheep Island was recorded by Boston Virtual Imaging.
